Corporate Counsel Business Journal has featured Akin Gump communications partner Jennifer Richter in the article “Drone Technology Soars to Dizzying Heights Despite the Drag of Regulatory Uncertainty.” Richter discusses the world of unmanned aerial vehicles, including the growing regulatory landscape around the technology and the joint effort that will be needed to move it forward.

Richter began by talking about her practice, which she said grew out of a love for technology and a desire “to work with companies that deliver communications services to the public.” She said she subsequently began working on new drone policies and issues “related to communications, navigation and surveillance capabilities” for unmanned aerial systems (UAS).

The conversation then shifted to a look at some of the privacy and safety issues currently confronting the UAS industry as well as the changes Richter anticipates in terms of government regulations. She also spoke of how she is advising clients with regard to enforcement activity.
