Akin Gump partner Rafi Prober, co-head of the firm’s congressional investigations practice, was quoted in the POLITICO article “‘Winter is coming’: Companies brace for flurry of investigations.” The article looks at how law firms are preparing to work with clients who may be the subject of new congressional investigations if the Democrats take control of the House of Representatives in 2019.

“There is a ton of pent-up investigative activity and interest on the Hill,” said Prober. “Companies doing business with Trump and his business, or the executive branch through contracting, those are going to be areas ripe for investigation.”

Prober also pointed to the importance of being prepared for such an investigation. “It’s always easier to consider how you approach a congressional investigation thoughtfully and deliberately at 3 in the afternoon vs. trying to figure out how to respond at 3 a.m.,” he said.
