(London) – Akin has advised Quinbrook, a specialist manager focused exclusively on delivering the infrastructure needed for the energy and digital transitions, on the final close of Quinbrook Renewables Impact Fund II LP (QRIF II). Quinbrook raised £587 million in investor commitments for the fund, exceeding its £500 million target.
QRIF II focuses on investments in renewable energy and related infrastructure across the UK and Ireland, supporting decarbonization, energy security and grid resilience initiatives. The fund builds on the strategy of Quinbrook's inaugural Renewables Impact Fund, which held its final close in 2023, on which Akin also advised.
Akin advised Quinbrook on the fundraising and structuring of QRIF II and has advised the firm on a range of investment management matters since its establishment in 2015. To date, Quinbrook has invested £1.2 billion of equity capital in projects and businesses operating in the UK and Ireland, with total capital investment of £1.7 billion.
The transaction was led by investment management partner Daniel Quinn and investment management counsel Benedict Watson. The team also included, amongst others, tax counsel Mohammed Natha, funds regulatory counsel Suley Siddiqui, and investment management associate Matthew Allan.
More information on the fund is available here.
