Akin Gump Among Top Firms Nationwide in Am Law Summer Associates Survey, Top of Market in Dallas, LA, NY

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that, in The American Lawyer’s annual Summer Associates Survey of second- and third-year law students, it placed fourth in the national standings—a four-step climb over 2016—ranked first in Dallas, Los Angeles and New York; placed second in Houston; and ranked highly in Washington, D.C.

Approximately 3,900 students were surveyed regarding their satisfaction with the summers they spent with firms.

Akin Gump hiring partner David Botter commented on the firm’s placement in the survey, saying, “Our goal each year is to provide our summer associates with a meaningful, substantive summer experience that reflects what their career will be like at Akin Gump. It’s gratifying to see our efforts continually reflected in survey results such as this.”

According to Am Law, among the factors rated by students were “how interesting and ‘real’ the work was, the level of training and guidance, how accurately the firm portrayed itself, how often the students interacted with partners and associates, and if the firm is an overall good place to work.”

Akin Gump also showed strongly in Am Law’s 2017 Midlevel Associate Survey, with a sixth-place ranking nationally and top five showing in key markets (learn more here).
