Jennifer Richter Named to FAA’s Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight Aviation Rulemaking Committee

Contact:
(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump communications and information technology practice head Jennifer Richter has been asked by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to join its Beyond Visual Line-of-Sight (BVLOS) Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) for unmanned aerial systems (UAS). In this role, Ms. Richter will work with and represent CTIA, as she did previously with the FAA’s Remote Identification ARC.
The FAA describes the BVLOS ARC as “an exciting opportunity to contribute to and shape the future of unmanned aircraft integration into the United States’ National Airspace System.” It is establishing the committee, it says, in order to make recommendations for regulatory requirements to enable routine BVLOS UAS operations.
Ms. Richter has represented technology and communications companies and investors for nearly three decades. She works frequently with innovators, the Federal Communications Commission and the FAA to solve questions regarding acceptable communications solutions for airborne unmanned systems, including drones and automated air taxis.
