Ava is an associate in the firm’s financial restructuring practice. She assists clients with a variety of complex restructuring matters, including chapter 11 proceedings and out-of-court restructurings.
Ava was an Akin summer associate and worked at another leading global law firm as a litigation legal assistant intern. Prior to joining Akin, she externed with the New York City Commission on Human Rights, focusing on discrimination cases, and interned with the Office of the Appellate Defender in Atlanta, where she supported appeals processes.
Ava earned her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she served as a staff editor on the Moot Court Board and was actively involved in trial advocacy and NYU Law Women. She holds a B.A. summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, in international relations from New York University.
- Enviva: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Enviva, the world's largest wood-based biomass company, involving over $2 billion in liabilities.
- CommScope: Counsel to an ad hoc group of cross holders in connection with a potential restructuring of CommScope, an American fiber optic and cable provider.
- Diamond Sports: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Diamond Sports Group and its affiliates, an operator of regional sports broadcast networks for more than 40 teams across Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association, involving more than $8 billion in liabilities.
