Barbara Niederkofler is principally engaged in the representation of private investment funds and their sponsors.
Practice & Background
Ms. Niederkofler’s practice focuses on domestic and international private investment funds industry, representing fund sponsors in connection with the structuring and operation of private investment funds, including private equity funds, hedge funds and secondary funds. She represents some of the most prominent private equity and hedge fund sponsors as well as a broad range of other investment management clients, including family offices and institutional investors.
Ms. Niederkofler also regularly counsels fund managers in securities law and regulatory compliance. She represents numerous clients on registrations and exemptive filings with the SEC and other regulators, and she advises them in ongoing compliance matters as well as audits and investigations.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Ms. Niederkofler was an associate at two large law firms in their New York and Menlo Park offices.
Ms. Niederkofler received her B.A. summa cum laude in history and international studies in 2000 from Yale University, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School in 2003.
