Biography
  • Advises clients on internal and government-initiated cross border investigations into potential violations of U.S. economic sanctions and export controls.
  • Provides compliance advice to U.S. and non-U.S. companies on U.S. economic sanctions, export controls, antibribery and anticorruption, and anti-money laundering.

Blair is a counsel in the international trade practice. She advises clients on a wide range of international trade matters related to U.S. economic sanctions and export controls.  She also assists clients with investigations concerning U.S. sanctions and export controls, and responses to investigations prompted by the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Department of the Treasury, and U.S. Department of Justice, including preparing voluntary self-disclosures, and administrative and criminal subpoena responses.  Blair additionally advises clients across a broad range of industries on compliance best practices related to U.S. sanctions, export controls, anti-money laundering, antibribery, and anticorruption, including drafting policies and procedures, counseling on proposed transactions, and auditing internal compliance programs.

Blair maintains an active pro bono practice and has experience representing hostages of foreign governments and transnational criminal organizations.  Blair has also supported nongovernmental organizations with compliance with economic sanctions and antibribery and anticorruption laws. 

Prior to joining Akin, Blair worked at another international law firm in its Washington, D.C. and New York City offices.  Blair was a member of the litigation group, focusing on investigations by the Department of Justice, Securities Exchange Commission, and Commodity Futures Trading Commission, compliance with U.S. economic sanctions, and complex commercial disputes.

While attending Georgetown University Law Center, Blair spent a year working at the American Bar Association’s Center for Human Rights focusing on international humanitarian law, international human rights law, and the intersection of business and human rights.

Blair is admitted to practice in the State of New York and the District of Columbia.
