Brette Peña is a litigator with a distinguished record of securing major victories for Tribal Nations in high‑stakes federal, state and tribal court litigation. Her practice centers on protecting tribal sovereignty; defending tribal land, water, and natural‑resource rights; and holding federal and state agencies accountable in strategic, precedent‑setting litigation.

Brette also serves as an advisor to Tribal Nations on issues arising at the intersection of policy, regulation and litigation. She and the entire AILP team are often called on to partner with tribal leadership to design forward‑looking solutions that strengthen long‑term governance and resource management objectives.

And, related to her work holding federal and state actors accountable, Brette maintains a robust national public records practice, counseling clients on the strategic use of public records laws to support regulatory, policy and advocacy goals.

Brette was a member of Akin’s 2016 summer associate class.
