- Represents GPs in relation to the establishment and operation of private investment funds, particularly across private equity and private credit.
- Advises on GP-led secondaries, including the establishment of continuation vehicles, preparation of rollover election materials, and LPAC conflict waivers.
- Represents sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors on private fund investments globally.
David represents private fund sponsors on matters involving the formation, structuring and fundraising of a wide range of closed-ended private investment funds, including secondaries and managed accounts. He also regularly represents sovereign wealth funds and other institutional investors on their private fund investments.
Prior to joining Akin, David was an Associate in the Melbourne and Singapore offices of a leading Australian law firm, where he acted for global fund managers including a client secondment to Australia’s leading alternative investment manager. David graduated with distinction with a Juris Doctor from Monash University. David also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne, with a double major in finance and accounting.
GP Representation
- Ongoing representation of a leading global asset manager in relation to the establishment of an SGD 1 billion private credit fund-of-one for a major sovereign investor.
- Represented a leading global asset manager in relation to various mandates with Australian superannuation funds and other institutional investors.
- Advised on the launch of an Abu Dhabi-based climate manager, and the formation of two climate-focused funds with USD 30 billion in commitments.
- Represented a leading Indian private equity manager on the establishment of various co-investment vehicles ranging from USD 150 million to USD 230 million in size.
Secondaries
- Advised leading Indian private equity managers on the formation and structuring of multi-asset continuation vehicles ranging from USD 150 million to USD 310 million in size.
- Advised Coller Capital on its acquisition of a USD 1.6 billion portfolio of private credit LP interests from American National.
