Jasem is a senior counsel in Akin’s corporate department based in the Dubai and Riyadh offices. He has successfully represented a diverse range of clients, including corporate entities, private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds and venture capital investors, in a variety of transactions such as acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and investments across multiple sectors across Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East region.

Prior to relocating to the Middle East in 2019, Jasem’s legal training and previous practice took place in the London office of another leading international law firm.

  • Advised Bindawood Holding Company on the acquisition of Zahrat Al Rawdah Pharmacies with over 200 pharmacies in Saudi Arabia from Julphar.
  • Advised Cognita on its strategic partnerships with King’s College Riyadh and Downe House Riyadh.
  • Advised Injazat, being a G42 subsidiary, on its joint venture with Nesma Infrastructure & Technology to offer key digital services and solutions in Saudi Arabia.
  • Advised Al Tahalof Al Tamm on its acquisition of Kudu Food Company, a restaurant chain with over 350 outlets in Saudi Arabia, from private equity houses TPG and Actis.
  • Advised Warner Music Group on its investment in Rotana Music, the Arab world’s leading independent record label, part of the Rotana Group.
  • Advised Warner Music Group on its acquisition of Qanawat Music, a leading music distributor in the Middle East and North Africa.
  • Advised Investcorp on its investment in Reem Integrated Healthcare Holdings, the owner/operator of a landmark hospital complex on Reem Island, Abu Dhabi.
  • Advised e& Group (formerly Etisalat) on its acquisition of Smartworld from Dubai Aviation City Corporation.
  • Advised Aldella Food Production on its strategic investment by a PIF company, Halal Products Development Company.
  • Advised National Central Cooling Company PJSC (Tabreed) on the AED 963 million purchase of Aldar Properties’ district cooling assets on Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Island.
  • Advised National Central Cooling Company PJSC (Tabreed) on its acquisition of Masdar City Cooling Company from Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company.
  • Advised Hwadi on its joint venture to establish Cloud 7 Hotel project in Al Ahsa, Saudi Arabia as part of The Collective by Kerten Hospitality initiative announced by the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia.
  • Advised Visiomed Group on the acquisition of Smart Salem, the first digital medical analysis center accredited by the Dubai Ministry of Health.
  • Advised Gulf Capital on its Series D round investment in Vezeeta, a leading digital health care platform in Middle East and Africa.
  • Advised Artal Capital as the lead investor on Syarah’s SAR 225 million Series C funding round, being one of the largest announced investment rounds in Saudi Arabia that year.
  • Advised a liquid biopsy company on its accelerated book-build and placing of shares to finance the company’s development of breakthrough liquid biopsy system used to treat women with metastatic breast cancer.
  • Advised an international sales, marketing and support services company on its $835 million cash placing in the Premium Segment of the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market and the disposal of its waste management business.
  • Advised Mabey Holdings Limited on the disposal of its modular bridging business and assets to Acrow Global Limited, a subsidiary of Acrow Corporation of America.
  • Advised an independent infrastructure fund on its acquisition of a leading international infrastructure group’s stake in the M25 highway in England.
