Biography
Jeremy Haywood is a counsel in Akin Gump's Hong Kong office.
  • Focuses his practice on cross-border restructurings, insolvencies and workouts.
  • Handles restructuring and insolvency matters in the Asia-Pacific region with considerable recent experience in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam and Taiwan.

Jeremy Haywood has experience advising on all aspects of corporate restructuring and insolvency. 

Representative Work
  • Advised the voluntary administrators (and later deed administrators) of Virgin Australia Holdings Limited (Administrators Appointed) as special noteholder liaison counsel to liaise with holders of various tranches of notes in excess of AUD$1.9 billion.
  • Represented an Ad Hoc Group of Noteholders of Valaris plc in relation to the Asian aspects of the provision of a Debtor-in-Possession term loan agreement and security package and the issuance of new secured notes implemented via chapter 11 and an English pre-pack administration sale.
  • Represented the holders of various private placement notes issued by ED&F Man Treasury Management plc in connection with the group’s refinancing of more than US$1 billion of debt which included the grant of new security instruments in various jurisdictions including Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
  • Advised Payless ShoeSource, Inc., an American discount footwear retailer in connection with its Chapter 11 proceedings and operational restructuring in Asia.
  • Represented an ad hoc committee of noteholders of US$420 million Senior Notes issued by China Singyes Solar Technologies Holdings Limited, a HKSE listed provider of renewable energy solutions through parallel schemes of arrangement in Hong Kong and Bermuda.
  • Advised a U.S. retailer and its Asian subsidiaries in relation to the operational restructuring of its Asian operations.
  • Represented CW Group Holdings Ltd (in provisional liquidation), a Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKSE)-listed, Singapore-headquartered group with entities in provisional liquidation in the Cayman Islands and Hong Kong and s211B moratorium proceedings in Singapore.
  • Advised a listed Chinese group in relation to refinancing and covenant amendment issues under an AUD 1 billion syndicated facility.
