Biography
  • Served as Acting Division Chief of the Satellite Programs and Policy Division of the Space Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission.
  • Advises clients on regulatory, licensing and policy matters in the telecom, media & technology sector, with a particular focus on wireless and satellite matters.

Jon is senior counsel in the telecommunications practice, where he advises clients on regulatory and policy matters, drawing on significant experience across federal communications law and policy. Prior to joining Akin, Jon served as Acting Division Chief of the Satellite Programs and Policy Division of the Space Bureau at the Federal Communications Commission, overseeing satellite licensing and rulemakings and leading operational initiatives for emerging space technologies. Jon also managed coordination with federal agencies to protect federal operations on adjacent and shared spectrum while ensuring ongoing access for commercial operators.

Earlier in his career, Jon was an attorney advisor in the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau at the FCC and practiced at another global law firm, advising on complex regulatory issues for wireless, satellite and cable clients. Jon holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School, where he served as associate and contributing editor of the Michigan Telecommunications and Technology Law Review.
