Biography

Joseph is an associate in the firm’s corporate practice. He assists public and private companies in mergers and acquisitions, securities, corporate governance and general corporate matters.

Prior to joining Akin, Joseph served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Victoria S. Kaufman of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Central District of California. 

Joseph earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law. During law school, he was a member of the Entertainment Law Association and the Law and Entrepreneurship Association.

Representative Work
  • Represented a climate positive investment firm in making multiple loans under an overall loan facility to landowners for solar projects under development throughout the United States, including Michigan, Arizona, California, and Virginia; loans are secured by mortgages on underlying real property and solar lease revenues.
  • Represented a climate positive investment firm in the prepayment and release of bonds secured by wind and solar lease assets and in the subsequent issuance of new notes secured by such wind and solar lease assets.
  • Represented a climate positive investment firm in making multiple loans to landowners for solar projects that are under development in Maryland and Virginia, including loans to both NTP and Pre-NTP projects and upsizing existing loans at conversion of a Pre-NTP project; loans are secured by mortgages on underlying real property and solar lease revenues.
  • Represented a climate positive investment firm in making multiple loans to landowners for solar projects under development in California; loans are secured by mortgages on underlying real property and solar lease revenues.
  • Represented a real estate private equity fund in the acquisition of a Holiday Inn branded hotel in the San Antonio, Texas area, together with a private loan to finance such acquisition.
  • Represented a commercial real estate investment firm as borrower in the refinancing of an approximately 447,042 square foot industrial building in Dixon, California leased to the State of California.
  • Represented a commercial real estate investment firm as borrower in the refinancing of an approximately 257,463 square foot multifamily apartment building in Sacramento, California.
  • Represented a commercial real estate investment firm in the sale of its tenant-in-common interest in the Danville Hotel property in Danville, California.
