- Advises clients on financial restructuring matters, including chapter 11 proceedings, cross-border restructurings and out-of-court workouts.
Juliana represents debtors, creditors, secured lender groups, debtor in possession (DIP) lenders, institutional investors, alternative investment management firms, official and unofficial creditor groups and other parties on a wide range of complex financial restructuring matters.
Prior to joining Akin, Juliana practiced at another leading global law firm in its Dallas and New York offices. She also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Judge Barbara J. Houser, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
- CareMax Inc.: Counsel to CareMax Inc. and affiliates in their prearranged chapter 11 cases in the Northern District of Texas, which encompassed asset and equity sales of the company’s management services organization and clinical care centers.
- Reverse Mortgage Investment Trust Inc.: Counsel to Reverse Mortgage Investment Trust Inc. and its subsidiaries in the restructuring of over $1.4 billion in funded debt obligations. The fully consensual chapter 11 plan encompassed a novel settlement that provided the Company’s sponsor and directors and officers broad mutual releases from the estate.
- Legacy Reserves Inc.: Counsel to Legacy Reserves Inc. in the restructuring of its $1.4 billion of funded debt.
- GVS Texas Holdings I, LLC: Counsel to GVS Texas Holdings I, LLC and affiliates in their chapter 11 cases which provided for payment in full of all creditors, and a return to equity funded by a $588 million asset sale.
- Wave Computing, Inc.: Counsel to Wave Computing, Inc. in its chapter 11 sale to an affiliate of Tallwood Venture Capital. This restructuring was recognized as the “Information Technology Deal of the Year” at The M&A Advisor’s 15th Annual Turnaround Awards in 2021.
- Hooters of America, LLC: Counsel to DIP lender in the pending chapter 11 cases of Hooters of America, LLC and certain of its affiliates.
- Sunac China Holdings Limited: Counsel to the Foreign Representative of Sunac China Holdings Limited in the restructuring of its $10.2 billion of offshore debt. The complex transaction was implemented through a scheme of arrangement in Hong Kong and parallel chapter 15 recognition proceedings.
