Kandis McClure brings more than a decade of experience developing and implementing advocacy strategies at the intersection of health care policy, regulation, and government relations. She advises a broad range of health care and life sciences clients on multifaceted legislative and regulatory matters, helping organizations navigate evolving policy environments and advance strategic objectives before policymakers and regulators.
Kandis has in-depth knowledge of state regulatory frameworks and the ways in which they intersect with federal policy discussions, providing clients with sophisticated insight into the health care landscape. Her experience working across both state and federal health policy allows her to help clients anticipate policy movement, assess regulatory implications, and develop coordinated engagement strategies tailored to their business and policy priorities. She is highly skilled in developing policy positioning and stakeholder engagement strategies and translating complex regulatory and legislative issues within and beyond the healthcare ecosystem.
Prior to joining Akin, Kandis served as Director of Federal Advocacy and Policy at the Federation of State Medical Boards and previously worked as a policy advisor at a leading government affairs firm.
Kandis received her J.D. from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, William S. Boyd School of Law where she was a Public Interest Fellow. She also holds a Master of Public Health from the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
