- Financial Restructuring
Matthew is an associate in our financial restructuring group.
He has experience acting for debtors, creditors, directors, and other stakeholders in complex financial restructuring transactions. Matthew has also worked on numerous transactional and contentious matters, with a particular focus on the energy and shipping sectors.
- OQ Chemicals: Counsel to the ad hoc group of lenders to the OQ Chemicals Group, one of the world's largest suppliers of oxo chemicals, on the Group's holistic recapitalisation, and amendment of its credit facilities.
- John Wood Group - Counsel to the noteholder group of John Wood Group, a leading British multinational engineering and consulting business, on a complex amendment and extension of its existing facilities and additional new money facilities in connection with a proposed acquisition of Wood.
- Committee of European banks: Counsel to the committee of European banks in connection with the debt restructuring of the Vroon Group. This included the restructuring of more than US$1 billion in financial debt involving 88 companies in 14 jurisdictions with over 50 facility agreements and 23 different lenders.
- A global steel, energy, and commodities group: Counsel to the group on its multi-billion-dollar financial restructuring.
- A global energy company: Counsel in connection with the restructuring of its c.$300 million exposure to a biofuel business.
- A US-based global technology group: Counsel on a $700 million refinancing, which included taking new security across several jurisdictions.
- A major utilities company: Counsel to the utilities company on its multi-billion-dollar financial restructuring.
- A global insurance company: Counsel on the restructuring of the company’s investment in a commercial litigation funder and an additional £200 million revolving credit facility to the litigation funder’s group.
- A major UK rail company: Counsel to the UK rail company in relation to a s.236 application brought under the Insolvency Act 1986.
