Michael focuses his practice on the complex tax matters relating to private investment funds, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), cross-border transactions and other business activities.
Prior to joining Akin, Michael was a student attorney at Syracuse University College of Law’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic, where he developed case strategies for federal income tax controversies and drafted Tax Court petitions. He also completed legal internships for the Honorable Brenda K. Sannes - Chief U.S. District Judge for the Northern District of New York, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office Finance and Asset Forfeiture Bureau and a real estate-focused law firm.
Michael earned his J.D. magna cum laude from Syracuse University College of Law, where he was the business editor of the Syracuse Law Review. He completed his LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, where he was part of the ABA Taxation Section Mentorship Program. He holds a B.S. in real estate from Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management.
