Nick is an associate in the international trade practice. He leverages his extensive experience working for the U.S. Senate and in the private sector to advise clients on international trade, legislative and regulatory matters. He has experience involving information and communications technology and services, as well as issues related to advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies, including privacy, connectivity and autonomy.
Prior to rejoining Akin, Nick held senior policy roles at a leading global automotive manufacturer, Stellantis, in Washington, D.C. At Stellantis, he advised the company on various compliance matters and investigations, as well as legislative and regulatory advocacy strategy, pertaining to the development and deployment of various advanced automotive technologies, software and product plans. He also has prior experience as legislative counsel for transportation and technology policy at the U.S. Senate, where he advised Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI) during the Senator’s tenure as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. Nick’s previous experience in Congress included serving as Deputy Legislative Director for Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL), the former Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. Nick began his legal career at Akin, where he focused on export control compliance and regulatory strategy.
Nick received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he was a UCLA Law Distinguished Scholar. He also holds a B.S. in economics and a B.A. in international affairs from Florida State University, both earned summa cum laude. While at UCLA, Nick was a staff member of the Criminal Justice Law Review and volunteered at El Centro Legal Clinics.
