Biography
  • Advises U.S. and multinational companies on cross-border commercial transactions and international trade matters.
  • Advises U.S. and multinational companies on compliance with U.S. sanctions, export/import controls and antiboycott laws and regulations.
  • Counsels clients concerning trade compliance programs, licensing, proposed transactions, internal investigations and enforcement matters and supply chain risk assessments.

Orfeh represents U.S. and non-U.S. clients in commercial and regulatory international trade matters primarily involving economic sanctions administered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and export/import controls administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), the U.S. State Department’s Directorate of Defense Trade Control (DDTC) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). Her practice focuses on compliance with economic sanctions and export/import controls across a variety of industries as well as providing strategic counsel to investors, acquirers and target companies concerning foreign direct investment controls/national security reviews before the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). Additionally, her practice includes advising clients on matters specifically relating to exports of emerging technologies.

In her pro bono practice, Orfeh counsels NGOs concerning their humanitarian operations in Afghanistan, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Venezuela and other sanctioned jurisdictions.

Previously, Orfeh was an associate for a large global law firm based in Washington, D.C. She earned her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School, where she served as the notes editor of The George Washington International Law Review.
