- Represents private fund managers, sponsors, investors and other clients on a range of investment management matters.
Pilar advises clients on the formation, structuring and ongoing operation of private investment funds, including credit funds, real estate funds, hedge funds and private equity funds. She guides market participants working with limited partnerships, co-investments, AIV fund vehicles, parallel fund formations and retail funds.
Prior to joining Akin, Pilar was an associate in the private funds practice at another global law firm in New York. She also interned at the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, assisting with research and case preparation for criminal prosecutions.
Pilar received her J.D. from New York University School of Law, where she was a Dean's Scholarship recipient and served as managing editor of the NYU Journal of Law & Business. She earned her B.A. cum laude in economics and political science from Barnard College of Columbia University.
