- Represents companies on a range of antitrust matters, including mergers, domestic and international antitrust counseling, litigation and government investigations.
Shanika is an associate in the firm’s antitrust and competition practice. She assists clients on a range of antitrust and competition issues, including mergers, regulatory compliance and enforcement actions.
Shanika holds a J.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, where she served as an associate editor for the Journal of Business Law and was an Institute for Law & Economics Scholar. During law school, she served in various leadership roles, including the community service chair of the Black Law Students Association and the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion chair of the Carey JD/MBA Student Association. She was also a member of the Penn Business Law Association, as well as a pro-bono volunteer for The Pardon Project, the Criminal Records Expungement Project and the Decarceration Advocacy Project.
Before law school, Shanika worked as a senior consultant at a Big 4 accounting firm, specializing in Forensic & Integrity Services for three years. She holds a B.A. in accounting and finance with a minor in peace and justice from Villanova University's School of Business. She received her Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license in August 2021.
Shanika was a member of Akin’s 2024 summer associate class.
