Akin Gump Among Top Firms Nationwide in Am Law Summer Associates Survey

Akin Gump was once again among the highest-rated firms in the country in The American Lawyer’s annual Summer Associates Survey of second- and third-year law students.

The firm placed among the top 10 in the national standings in the survey, which measures levels of summer associate satisfaction at law firms across the country. On a local level, it ranked first in Los Angeles, earning perfect scores from each of the respondents, and in the top 10 in Houston, Dallas and Washington, D.C.

Commenting on the firm’s placement in the survey, Akin Gump hiring partner David Botter said, “Our summer program is designed to show law students what working at Akin Gump is all about. To receive results like this again this year, is proof that we are offering a rewarding experience that is preparing the students for successful careers in law.”

Am Law says firms were ranked by their average scores based on nine categories: “interesting work, real work, training and guidance, partner-summer associate interaction, associate-summer associate interaction, communication of goals and expectations, accuracy of firm self-portrayal, inclination to accept full-time associateship and overall rating as a place to work.”

Last month, Akin Gump received its second straight top 10 national ranking in The American Lawyer’s 2018 Midlevel Associates Survey, which included a number seven ranking in New York. (For more on that, click here.)
