Akin Gump Honored with Safe Haven Award by Immigration Equality

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is proud to share that, in a ceremony held on May 20, Immigration Equality, the U.S.’s leading LGBTQ and HIV-positive immigrant rights organization, honored the firm’s pro bono work with its Safe Haven Award.

Through these awards, Immigration Equality celebrates its clients, corporate supporters and “the unyielding dedication of our pro-bono attorney partners…Each Safe Haven Award winner has demonstrated exemplary support for Immigration Equality and our clients.”

In a social media posting, Immigration Equality spoke to the firm’s recognition for work helping LGBTQ and HIV-positive asylum seekers “win freedom from persecution” and featured a short film in which Akin Gump corporate associates Andrew McDonough and John Hill, accepting the award for Akin Gump, discuss their successful pro bono work alongside Immigration Equality on behalf of an LGBTQ Chadian man applying for asylum.
