Christine LaFollette Named One of Texas Lawyer’s Top Women in Energy Law
(Houston) – Christine LaFollette, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Houston office, has been named one of Texas Lawyer’s Top Women in Energy Law. LaFollette was one of more than 30 women selected for this honor, which recognizes women from all areas of energy law.
In a Q&A article accompanying her selection, LaFollette said she loves being a lawyer and coming to work each day. She cited the late Akin Gump founder Robert Strauss, who advised her and others at the firm to “take our work seriously but not ourselves.”
As for tackling the gender gap that exists in the energy world, LaFollette said, “It’s important to understand that women are just as educated, committed and determined as the “good ol’ boys.” Women don't want special favors, only a fair chance. Solving challenging problems in the energy industry takes hard work by everyone, and diversity brings different perspectives that lead to innovative solutions.”
LaFollette and the other honorees are being recognized today at an event in Houston.
In early December, Ms. LaFollette, along with Akin Gump oil and gas partners Michael Byrd and John Goodgame, was also named to Houston Business Journal's Who's Who in Energy (learn more here).
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
