The Hollywood Reporter has quoted Akin Gump entertainment partner Christopher Spicer in the article “Who Wants to Be a Studio Chief? Legendary Ouster Sparks Hollywood Exec Scramble,” regarding who will fill the roles of several Hollywood studio heads who have departed their positions.

The article reports that the changes are so great that the top spots at several studios are up for grabs. Among them, are Legendary Entertainment, Sony Pictures and Warner Bros.

Legendary, which is owned by China’s Dalian Wanda Group, is being pushed by its leadership, according to the article, to produce more prestige projects and become less reliant on big budget sequels, remakes and special-effects spectacles. Without a significant library behind it, however, Spicer, who has worked on several China deals, said that could be difficult. “There’s a reason why there are so few major studios,” he said. “It’s famously hard and requires an enormous capital commitment.”
