For its article “Chinese Firms Changing Tone On US Real Estate Investment,” Law360 quoted Akin Gump real estate partner Hushmand Sohaili on Chinese firms’ growing investments in U.S. commercial real estate.

The article states that the Chinese government has been tightening its control on overseas investment. Sohaili, whose practice focuses on, among other areas, real estate finance, noted, “It is becoming more and more difficult to get money out of China. I have a multimillion-dollar transaction where all parties want to do something, but the Chinese investor is not sure that he can get his money here, or at least get it here within a 30-day contingency period.”
