Kerry Berchem Named to Crain’s New York Business’ “Notable Women in Law” List
(New York) – Akin Gump corporate partner Kerry Berchem has been named to the Crain’s New York Business “Notable Women in Law” list for 2021.
Ms. Berchem was cited for her work advising companies emerging from bankruptcy or financial restructuring that “often require advice on governance programs, financing and the execution of business strategies.” She is also well-versed in tax-driven transactions, the publication said, working with “post-restructured companies in various sectors to leverage tax positions and execute multibillion-dollar transactions.”
Crain’s highlighted Ms. Berchem’s particular knowledge of the reinsurance sector, where she has advised “on the formation, capitalization and sale of hedge fund-sponsored reinsurers.” She also serves as outside general counsel for several publicly traded companies.
Crain’s says each individual named to the list was selected “for her professional achievements and her pro bono work or involvement in industry and community organizations.”
