Kerry Berchem, head of the corporate practice at Akin Gump, was quoted by The Boston Globe in the article “Debate swirls on how many board directorships are enough.”

Berchem, who previously wrote about the topic in this post on the AG Deal Diary blog, commented on a decision by Institutional Shareholder Services to lower the maximum number of corporate boards on which a director can serve from six to five. She argues such decisions should be left to individual directors and companies.

“The relevant questions are and should be: Are the members of the board fully prepared, constructive, and actively engaged?” According to the article, about half of companies have enacted limits on their own.
