In its article “Firms on the Move: Akin Gump Settles Into New K Street Digs,” The National Law Journal featured Akin Gump’s new space in Washington, D.C., the top four floors of Alexander Court’s North building, the Robert S. Strauss Tower (read more here).
The article quotes Akin Gump D.C. partner in charge Anthony Pierce regarding the search for new space and the reason for choosing the K Street location. “One of the drivers of that was where our folks come from,” said Pierce, “and most people were coming from north and west of the city.”
He noted that the new building features more light, more open spaces, glass offices and room to grow, all firm priorities.
The article also discusses the firm’s Capitol Hill satellite office, which opened in March, with Pierce saying, “As a lobbying firm, we also had our lobbyists wanting to be closer to Capitol Hill…They were interested in having some space, so one of the things I did was get them [event] space on Capitol Hill.”
The article closes by noting that the firm consulted staff at all levels to arrive at the design scheme used throughout the new space.
