Summer Associates Rank Akin Gump Among Top Firms in Am Law, Law360 Surveys

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce that, in The American Lawyer’s 2021 Summer Associates Survey and Law360's post-program Summer Associates Survey, the firm was ranked by law students as among the top 10 firms nationally. Notably, the Houston office received a perfect score and was ranked number one in the Am Law survey, and the firm ranked among the top 10 in Dallas, Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C.
Am Law’s Summer Associates Survey asks respondents to rate their firms across a variety of categories, including quality of work, guidance and training and inclination to accept an offer if extended.
Comments from Akin Gump’s 2021 summer associate class support the firm’s high national and local offices rankings. In a subsequent story on the Am Law results, which noted Akin Gump as the “highest-ranking homegrown Texas firm,” Texas Lawyer included a number of positive comments from summer associates, such as “[There's] nothing that Akin [Gump] could’ve done better with COVID considerations,” and another noting that the firm was a “[g]reat place in all aspects” and that it “prioritiz[es] diversity and community service.”

For its survey, Law360 received more than 750 responses from 1L-3L year law students about their experiences at the summer programs of law firms across the country.
In its article summarizing the results, Law360 quoted Akin Gump chief legal talent officer Beth Miller on the firm’s use of virtual programming, which offered the associates exposure to a “greater variety of lawyers across the offices,” cutting down on geographical constraints and giving “associates novel opportunities to connect with peers and attorneys in different regions.”
Earlier this year, Akin Gump also ranked among Law360’s Top 15 ‘Dream’ Firms, which ranks law firms that “topped students’ lists of their most desirable places to spend a summer.” To read more, click here.
