The Texas Lawbook included Akin Gump among a group of “elite” firms in Texas whose names denote “prestige, strength, distinction and even superiority.”

The article “Top 12 Financially Elite Law Firms in Texas: Just the Numbers, Ma’am” notes that Akin Gump is one of the few firms with the “smartest, most successful” lawyers in the Lone Star State, with clients that seek it out for help with “massive problems or bet-the-company matters.” The Lawbook also cites Akin Gump’s strong energy transactional and complex commercial litigation practices.

Speaking of the firm’s work in Texas, Dallas office partner in charge Scott Barnard said, “Dallas, Houston and Austin have dynamic economies. The oil and gas industry is suffering, but we know it will return. And COVID-19 has impacted several other business sectors and many companies are facing challenging times. It is our job to be there for our clients when business is good and when it is not.”
