    Australia expands asset freezing rules to cover additional individuals and entities connected to the operation of railway and transport routes between Crimea and Russia.

    ​The Office of Financial Sanction Implementation (OFSI) published new guidance on staying compliant with financial sanctions in the maritime sector and provided tips for the relevant stakeholders. OFSI emphasized that for maritime businesses, including shipping companies, port operators, insurers, and financial institutions, adhering to financial sanctions regulations requires a proactive and comprehensive approach given the complexity of the sector.

    ​The European Commission published updated FAQs on Article 5n of Council Regulation (EU) 833/2014 regarding the Provision of Services. The update makes changes to the Commission’s guidance in relation to 15 questions and adds 4 new questions, which cover among other topics: authorisation from national competent authorities, IT services, ancillary services, intra-group services and treatment of EU nationals.

  • 28 Mar 2024 (BIS):

    ​The Department of Justice (“DOJ”) announced that Oleg Chistyakov, also known as Olegs Čitsjakovs, a Latvian citizen, was charged with crimes related to a years-long conspiracy to sell sophisticated avionics equipment to Russian end users, in violation of U.S. export laws.
