Global Investigations Review Names Mac Fadlallah to 40 Under 40 List
(Dubai, United Arab Emirates) – Global Investigations Review has named Akin Gump Dubai office partner in charge Mahmoud (Mac) Fadlallah to its annual 40 Under 40 list, a profile of the 40 leading young investigations “specialists” from around the world.
As part of its profile of him, Mr. Fadlallah, a member of Akin Gump’s international trade practice, discussed one of the most significant cases he has worked on, which involved him crawling through the belly of an aircraft to refute an accusation that an aerospace client lost or stole a sensitive item controlled for missile technology reasons. While it initially seemed like a simple allegation of theft, he explained that, “the sensitivity of the item triggered export controls and sanctions issues as well, given that the customer was threatening to involve U.S. authorities.”
Asked about an important person in his career, Mr. Fadlallah pointed to fellow partner Kevin Wolf, a former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration, who he said “was among the first to believe in [his] aptitude as a lawyer.” The two worked previously at another law firm before Mr. Wolf left for the Obama administration. Mr. Fadlallah subsequently joined Akin Gump in 2010, and reunited with Mr. Wolf when Mr. Fadlallah was part of the team that recruited him to Akin Gump.
