The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation ("OFSI") announced that, in accordance with section 146 of the Policing and Crime Act 2017, a monetary penalty of £300,000 has been imposed against UK incorporated company Markom Management Limited ("MML") for a payment to a person designated under EU sanctions (the "DP"), in breach of The Ukraine (European Union Financial Sanctions) (No.2) Regulations 2014 ("the Ukraine Regulations"). The Ukraine Regulations gave effect to Council Regulation (EU) No 269/2014 (Ukraine Misappropriation and Human Rights) ("the EU Regulations").

The European Commission (the "Commission") updated its FAQs on the implementation of the EU's sanctions targeting Russia. As part of these updates, the EU has amended certain FAQs and issued a new FAQ in respect of 'Enhanced Due Diligence for Operators Manufacturing and/or Trading with CHP Items' (related to Article 12gb of Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 (the "Regulation")).

The European Commission (the "Commission") updated its FAQs on the implementation of the EU's sanctions targeting Russia. As part of these updates, the EU has introduced new FAQs in respect of 'Import, Purchase & Transfer of Listed Goods' (related to Article 3g, 3i, and 3o of Council Regulation (EU) No 833/2014 (the "Regulation")).

The Ministry of Commerce sanctioned two financial institutions in the EU as a countermeasure against EU's inclusion of two Chinese financial institutions in its eighteenth round of sanctions against Russia.
- 12 Aug 2025 (China - Measures and Countermeasures):
The Ministry of Commerce paused the restricted measures under the April 4 Unreliable Entity List designations for another 90 days, and those under the April 9 Unreliable Entity List designations without specifying the duration of the pause.
- 12 Aug 2025 (China - Measures and Countermeasures):
The Ministry of Commerce paused the restricted measures under the April 4 Export Control List designations for another 90 days, and ended the restricted measures under the April 9 Export Control List designations.
