- 14 Jul 2023 - Tyler James Sumlin - Denial Order; No monetary penalty
On July 14, 2023, BIS issued a Denial Order against Tyler James Sumlin ("Respondent") for a period of seven years in relation to violations of 18 U.S.C. § 554(a). The order went into effect on the Respondent's date of conviction on September 11, 2019. Specifically, the Respondent was convicted of attempting to smuggle firearms from the United States to Mexico, namely silencers, a short barreled rifle, and a destructive device. The Respondent was sentenced to five years of probation, $100 assessment and $150 criminal fine. BIS did not impose any further monetary penalty on Respondent beyond the Court-imposed penalty.
- 14 Jul 2023 - Victor Thomas Diaz, III - Denial Order; No monetary penalty
On July 14, 2023, BIS issued a Denial Order against Victor Thomas Diaz, III ("Respondent") for a period of 10 years in relation to violations of 18 U.S.C. § 371. The order went into effect on the Respondent's date of conviction on April 18, 2022. Specifically, the Respondent was convicted of conspiring to knowingly, intentionally, and willfully engage in the business of dealing firearms without a license. The Respondent was sentenced to 24 months of confinement, three years of supervised release, and a $200 assessment. BIS did not impose any further monetary penalty on Respondent beyond the Court-imposed penalty.

On July 17, 2023, the United Kingdom designated 13 individuals and one entity pursuant to The Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019. The sanctions measures target those involved in Russia's attempts to remove Ukrainian national identity through its programme of forced deportation of Ukrainian children, spreading propaganda, inciting violence and hatred towards Ukraine, and a network of re-education camps based in mainland Russia and the illegally annexed territory of Crimea.
- 14 Jul 2023 (BIS):
The United States Department of Justice announced that Vadim Konoshchenok, a Russian citizen with alleged ties to Russia's Federal Security Service, was extradited to the United States from Estonia on July 12, 2023 to face U.S. export violations charges and other criminal charges identified in a December 2022 indictment.
