- Focuses on white collar investigations and enforcement matters involving investment funds, financial institutions, companies and their key individuals.
- Experience includes advising longstanding clients of the firm in a variety of complex civil litigation matters.
Annie represents institutional clients, including investment funds, financial institutions, and public and private companies, as well as individual clients, in sensitive internal and government investigations involving criminal and regulatory issues. She regularly counsels clients in white collar defense investigations and enforcement matters brought by the Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other regulators, including defending allegations of wire fraud, spoofing, improper accounting and disclosure violations, insider trading and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) violations.
Annie also represents some of the firm's most significant institutional clients in a variety of complex civil litigation matters, including retail investor disputes and cross-border discovery disputes in both federal and state court and arbitrations before the AAA and FINRA.
Annie has a robust pro bono practice focused primarily on representing women and their families in matters involving domestic violence, family law and immigration issues. She was named the New York Office Pro Bono Attorney of the Year in 2022 and the firmwide Pro Bono Associate of the Year in 2017. During law school, Annie was an Executive Editor of the Georgetown Law Review.
- Representing a multibillion-dollar asset manager in an investigation involving potentially fraudulent conduct by an individual associated with a limited partner in multiple of the manager’s funds.
- Representing a former precious metals trader at a major financial institution in a federal criminal trial alleging RICO and wire fraud based on alleged spoofing.
- Representing the audit committee of the board of directors of a public company in an internal investigation involving allegations of accounting fraud.
- Representing a broker-dealer in a FINRA arbitration alleging unsuitable investment advice.
- Representing a long-standing investment funds client in a variety of third-party subpoenas arising out of investor disputes and portfolio company litigation.
- Representing multiple clients, including a leading investment funds client and a significant Europe-based company, in complex cross-border discovery disputes arising out of Section 1782, which allows foreign litigants to obtain discovery in U.S. federal court for use in their foreign proceedings.
- Representing a company in an SEC investigation related to improper accounting and internal controls issues as the company undergoes a chapter 11 restructuring.
