Biography
  • Financial restructuring trial attorney and litigator with significant experience in bankruptcy court, federal district court and state courts throughout the country.
  • Advises debtors, creditors, official committees and other stakeholders in complex chapter 11 cases, out-of-court reorganizations, and related disputes across industries including financial, technology, health care, energy, manufacturing and retail businesses.
  • Experienced in high-stakes contested matters, adversary proceedings, discovery management, mediation and resolving multibillion-dollar claims in major corporate restructurings.

Nick is a counsel in Akin’s litigation practice in Washington, D.C. As a seasoned trial attorney, Nick focuses on financial restructuring matters, guiding clients through intricate bankruptcy and insolvency proceedings. He represents debtors, creditors, official committees and other stakeholders in chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings, drawing on his extensive experience in contested matters, adversary proceedings and alternative dispute resolution in domestic and foreign forums. His practice emphasizes strategic litigation in bankruptcy courts, federal district courts and state courts nationwide, and has worked on cases from the prelitigation process all the way through trial. Nick has substantial experience in both traditional finance and decentralized finance, having handled groundbreaking cases involving digital assets that set precedents for future cases.

Beyond restructuring, he advises on complex commercial disputes, product liabilities and mass torts, environmental liability and regulatory compliance, often collaborating with forensic investigators and leading internal investigations. He has a deep knowledge and passion for his clients’ industries and integrates that knowledge with sound legal strategy to achieve real results and concrete solutions.

Prior to joining Akin, Nick was an associate at another international law firm in New York and Washington, D.C. He began his career as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Martin Glenn in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, providing him with deep insights into courtroom practice and trial strategy. Nick received his J.D. from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. He holds a B.Mus. from Queens College, City University of New York. Nick has been recognized by Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for 2024, 2025 and 2026. Nick maintains an extensive pro bono practice and was awarded Akin’s 2024 Julia Gharhamani Immigration Advocacy Award for prevailing in a trial that secured asylum for a refugee who assisted the United States during the war in Afghanistan.
