Randall is a leading advisor to clients in sports & media, entertainment, technology, private equity (PE) and private credit and has a wide-range of experience in sports. His clients include teams, leagues, media centers, financial institutions, private equity and venture capital (VC) investors, high-net-worth (HNW) individuals and family offices. From representing private credit firms in transactions with teams and leagues assessing media distribution strategies for leagues and college conferences, Randall has handled some of the most sophisticated transactions in sports and delivers solutions tailored to each client’s unique objectives.
What sets Randall apart is years of experience helping to lead some of the most dynamic companies in sports & entertainment, previously serving as executive vice president and general counsel of Monumental Sports & Entertainment. He also served as CEO and commissioner of the Arena Football League (AFL), restructuring its operations and relaunching the AFL as a next generation league. Randall also served as the general counsel at America Online.
Randall’s practice encompasses a broad array of sophisticated transactions and operational experience in both professional sports and media. He has handled a wide variety of matters connected to the National Basketball Association (NBA), Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), National Hockey League (NHL), National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), Major League Soccer (MLS), Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA).
Randall has also worked with teams, leagues, local governments and municipalities in connection with arena, stadium and venue development, including financing and building improvements. In addition, he has negotiated major media distribution deals, collective bargaining agreements with players’ unions, and cable affiliate and carriage transactions. Randall has also represented teams and leagues in connection with the legalization of sports betting and transactions with sports betting operators.
- Represented Monumental Sports & Entertainment in its $1.4-billion local mediarightsdistribution agreement with Comcast/NBC, including investments in the Monumental Sports Network.
- Represented MARI in connection with the acquisition of a portfolio of ATP and WTA tennis tournaments.
- Counseling a premier American college athletic conference on post-House legal developments, including proposed federal legislation and media distribution strategy.
- RepresentedMonumental Sports,Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers in connection with the legalization of sports betting and thedevelopment ofpartnerships with sports betting operators.
- Restructured operationsand re-launchedthe Arena Football League, includingnegotiatingthecarriage/distribution agreement with ESPN; a collective bargaining agreement withtheplayers'union and venue agreements for teams; and served as CEO and Commissioner.
