Truman serves as a policy advisor in Akin’s lobbying & public policy practice in Washington, D.C., where he leverages years of Capitol Hill and campaign experience to provide strategic advice and advocacy to clients navigating complex legislative and regulatory matters.

Truman's experience includes working closely with state and local governments, industry and trade associations, as well as federal agencies to deliver meaningful wins for stakeholders and constituencies.

Prior to joining Akin, Truman held a variety of roles in the U.S. House of Representatives, most recently as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Representative Monica De La Cruz (R-TX). In this capacity, he led legislative strategy and oversaw policy development across a broad range of issues.

Truman also previously worked in the offices of U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) and the late U.S. Representative Don Young (R-AK). He gained experience in key policy areas important to the region and continues to maintain strong relationships on Capitol Hill. Additionally, he previously worked as campaign manager for both the Alaskans for Don Young and the Alaskans for Nick Begich campaigns.

At Akin, Truman combines his firsthand legislative and campaign experience with a results-driven approach to help clients achieve their policy and advocacy goals.
