Global Arbitration Review has published “Practical steps to address cybersecurity,” an article by Akin Gump litigation partner Justin Williams and counsel Jenny Arlington that outlines steps that have been or could be taken to manage information security risks in the international arbitration context and discusses the 2020 Protocol on Cybersecurity in International Arbitration.

The authors survey the current cyber threat, both in business overall and, more specifically, in the legal sector and international arbitration, and responses to that threat, including the 2020 Protocol, which they detail. They then close by suggesting steps that arbitrators, counsel and users of international arbitration can take to protect themselves and the process.
