Our tax policy practice proactively lobbies legislators, regulators and decision-makers across the political spectrum to promote clients’ tax- and pension-related interests.

On Capitol Hill, our tax policy lawyers and advisors engage members of Congress and their staff on the House Committee on Ways and Means, the Senate Finance Committee and the Joint Committee on Taxation. We also work closely with key players at the Department of the Treasury and, when needed, the White House.

Our group includes two former tax counsel, one of whom served as chief counsel on the Ways and Means Committee, the other as Staff Director of the Ways and Means Committee’s Subcommittee on Select Revenue Measures. With prior experience on the Hill, our policy practice members are well positioned with a wealth of key contacts who shape U.S. tax policy.

Collaboration is the focus within the practice, which ensures that matters receive thorough consideration and are strategically handled to serve client interests and achieve client goals. Experience, paired with an in-depth understanding of tax matters, enables our tax policy team to interpret technical information before Congress and other branches of government, work through complex code and make a compelling case. Likewise, this facility with technical information translates back to meaningful, informed answers for our clients.

Considerable tax activity is ongoing in Congress, which is why our team continuously monitors the tax arena on Capitol Hill to identify opportunities—and challenges—for our clients. Additionally, practice members with multidisciplinary, policy-related roles add a robust understanding of the political landscape to ensure comprehensive coverage for our clients.

Our portfolio of tax policy clients includes:

  • Insurance Companies
  • Multinational Manufacturers
  • Fund Managers
  • Energy Interests.
