  • 30 Mar 2026 (UK):

The Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation ("OFSI") announced that, in accordance with section 146 of the Policing and Crime Act 2017 ("PACA"), a monetary penalty of £390,000 was imposed against Apple Distribution International Limited ("ADI"), a private company registered in the Republic of Ireland and a subsidiary of the U.S. technology company Apple Inc., for breaching the Russia (Sanctions) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019 (the "Russia Regulations"). The ADI penalty represents the third largest civil monetary penalty imposed by OFSI to date. The enforcement action is notable because it represents the first use of OFSI's new settlement mechanism to resolve a civil monetary penalty case involving violations of UK financial sanctions, as well as for targeting a non-UK person for conduct undertaken in the UK.
