- 05 Jun 2023 (OFAC):
On June 5, 2023, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control ("OFAC") designated seven individuals and one entity pursuant to Executive Order 14024 that are related to a "Russian intelligence-linked malign influence group" for their role in the Russian Federation’s "destabilization campaign and continued malign influence campaigns in Moldova."
- 05 Jun 2023 (EU):
On June 5, 2023, the European Union extended the scope of its Russia sanctions regime through Council Regulation (EU) 2023/1089 and Council Decision (CFSP) 2023/1094 to permit the designation of family members of Russian businesspersons. The amendment to Article 3(1)(g) of the Regulation, as well as Articles 1(1)(e) and 2(1)(g) of the Decision, now permits the designation of leading businesspersons operating in Russia and:
- their immediate family members;
- other natural persons benefitting from them; and
- businesspersons, legal persons, entities or bodies involved in economic sectors providing a substantial source of revenue to the Government of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilisation of Ukraine.
