The Office of Trade Sanctions Implementation ("OTSI") published new guidance to assist the freight and shipping sector with countering Russian sanctions evasion (the "Guidance"). The Guidance highlights the red flag indicators of potential sanctions circumvention, including the range of goods subject to heightened risk of being diverted to Russia. To mitigate these risks, OTSI provides suggestions of good compliance practices and enhanced due diligence procedures businesses should consider to prevent UK sanctions circumvention and fulfil their compliance obligations.
