Computers & Law has published “10 Things You Need to Know About the EU White Paper on Artificial Intelligence,” an article by Akin Gump partners Justin Williams and Davina Garrod and counsel Jenny Arlington that examines some of the key themes and questions in a recently published, wide-ranging white paper.

The EU’s white paper, the article notes, includes proposals for regulations of artificial intelligence (AI) “with potentially far-reaching implications both for users and developers worldwide.” It is “vital reading,” the authors write, “for any business which participates in the data economy, and in particular companies that operate across borders.”

Some of the takeaways from the white paper that the authors identify include:

  • Extensive New Laws and Regulation of AI are on the Way.
  • The Material and (Extra-)Territorial Scope of the Proposals.
  • Some Insights into the Proposed New Requirements for High-Risk AI
