Akin Continues Expansion of Global Private Equity Platform with Addition of Corporate Partner Dilen Kumar

(Dallas) – Akin announced today that Dilen Kumar has joined the firm’s corporate practice as a partner in Dallas, further strengthening its global private equity platform. His addition enhances the firm’s ability to advise sponsors and companies on complex mergers & acquisitions transactions, investment strategies and capital structures.
Dilen’s arrival builds on a series of recent additions across the firm’s global private equity platform, including the return of United States private equity head Gerald Brant and partners Jeffrey Kochian and Brittany Harrison in New York, along with the arrival of Jonathon Hamil in London.
Dilen advises private equity sponsors, as well as public and private companies, on acquisitions, divestitures, carve-outs and minority investments, as well as governance matters. His practice spans multiple sectors, including health care, technology, energy and consumer industries, with additional experience in distressed transactions, special situations and complex board-level matters.
“Continuing to expand a scaled and integrated private equity platform is a core priority for the firm,” said Akin co-chair Abid Qureshi. “Dilen adds to our ability to advise clients on a broad spectrum of transactions and reinforces the connectivity of our private equity and broader capital solutions capabilities.”
“Clients are navigating an increasingly complex investment environment, requiring counsel that can operate seamlessly across transaction types and market conditions,” said corporate practice co-head Zachary Wittenberg. “Dilen’s practice reflects that evolution, and his experience further differentiates our private equity offering.”
“I was drawn to Akin because of its ability to connect strengths across practices in a way that reflects today’s business opportunities,” said Dilen. “Clients are facing increasingly complex and multi-dimensional transactions, and the strength of Akin’s integrated platform, particularly across transactional capabilities, allows them to navigate the full investment lifecycle with confidence.”
