Juan works closely with investment managers, including private equity and other alternative asset managers, as well as senior executives across public and private companies, on all aspects of executive compensation and benefits. He regularly assists clients in the design, implementation and administration of equity and equity-based compensation programs for employees, partners and management teams.

Juan also counsels clients on the U.S. tax considerations applicable to cross-border investments, management incentive structures and M&A transactions, including the application of key federal income and employment tax regimes such as Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code.

Prior to joining Akin, Juan practiced as a tax and executive compensation associate at another firm. He holds a Tax LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center and a J.D. from Emory University School of Law.
