Akin Gump Advises RegionalCare Hospital Partners in Completed Merger with Capella Healthcare

(New York) – RegionalCare Hospital Partners Inc. and Capella Healthcare, Inc., both privately owned premier providers of health care services, have announced the successful completion of the previously announced merger between the two companies. Akin Gump advised RegionalCare in the matter.

The new combined company, which will do business under the name RCCH Health Partners, has 16 regional health systems in 12 states, with more than 13,000 employees, 2,000 affiliated physicians and $1.7 billion in revenues.

Separately, Akin Gump advised RegionalCare in the pricing of an $800 million bond offering today that was used to fund the merger.

The Akin Gump team that worked on the merger was led by corporate partners Adam Weinstein and Tony Feuerstein. They were joined by counsel John Holland and Gerald Brant and associate Nicholas Houpt, also of the corporate practice; health partner Jorge Lopez Jr. and senior counsel Gene Elder; and real estate partner David Phelps and counsel Arsineh Baghdasarian. Corporate partner Rosa Testani and counsel Patricia Groot led the securities team for the secured bond financing. RegionalCare was also represented by its chief administrative officer and general counsel, Howard Wall.
