Akin Gump Advises MediaNews Group in Red Wing Publishing Acquisition

(New York) – MediaNews Group (MNG) has acquired the assets of Minnesota-based Red Wing Publishing Company, including its print publications, websites and commercial printing operations. A team from Akin Gump advised MNG in the transaction.
Red Wing Publishing is the parent of Big Fish Works, which operates three clusters of newspapers across Minnesota. MNG operates the nearby St. Paul Pioneer Press. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Akin Gump partner David D’Urso led the team advising MNG. He was joined by counsel Tim Clark and associate Joshua Wright as well as labor and employment partner Lauren Leyden and counsel Desireé Busching.
